Availability of orthophoto maps

Orthophoto is an image of the Earth's surface that eliminates all distortions caused by the slope of the scene and the effects of the terrain when shooting.

Orthophoto maps are made from aerial photography with specialized software for this purpose.

The orthophoto maps are made according to the specified map sheet nomenclature.

Aerial photography 1st and 2nd cycle Latvian orthophoto maps are prepared in Latvian coordinate system LKS-92 TM according to TKS-93 map page division (1:10 000 scale map page corresponds to 5 x 5 kilometers in nature).

Beginning with the 3rd cycle of aerial photography, in Latvia orthophoto maps are prepared in the Latvian coordinate system LKS-92 TM according to TKS-93 map page division (1: 5 000 map page corresponds to 2.5 x 2.5 kilometers in nature).

The orthophoto maps for the whole territory of Latvia are prepared in TIFF format according to the resolution determined during the aerial photography period.

High-resolution orthophoto maps of Latvian cities and densely populated areas (1994-2002)

Orthophoto maps at scale 1: 2000 (in some locations scale 1: 1000) are available in TIFF format with reference to LKS-92 TM coordinate system.

The orthophoto maps produced before 1999 are black and white and the latest ones are colored.

In cases where orthophoto cmaps are prepared at the customer's expense, their transfer to users must be agreed with the customer.

High-precision orthophoto maps are also produced in Latvia by several commercial companies.

All orthophoto maps prepared by the LGIA can be prepared on request in MrSID format, as well as in JPG format with or without grid reference and also in PDF format, as well as for further processing - cropping in a user specified area, merging multiple files, changing resolution (pixels).
