Printing

The printing house “Latvijas karte” of the Latvian Geospatial Information Agency (until 01 November 1999 – the state production association “Latvijas karte”) has been operating in the printing industry since 1946. Initially, “Latvijas karte” prepared and produced atlases and maps for the entire territory of the Soviet Union.

Since 17 April 1999, the printing house “Latvijas karte” has been a member of the Latvian Printing Association.

Currently, the printing house “Latvijas karte” performs the functions of a producer of topographic support for the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia and ensures the preparation and production of cartographic and general printing works for the Ministry of Defence, as well as fulfilling orders for other legal entities and private individuals.

Areas of activity

Throughout the years, the primary specialization of the printing house has been the production of cartographic materials:

  • orthophoto maps;

  • maps at scale 1:2,000 (military version);

  • topographic maps at scale 1:10,000 (military version);

  • topographic maps at scale 1:25,000 (military version);

  • topographic maps at scale 1:50,000 (military version);

  • satellite maps;

  • nautical navigation charts;

  • topographic maps at scale 1:50,000 (civilian version);

  • map atlases for educational institutions;

  • wall maps.

The quality of the cartographic production printed by “Latvijas karte” is also demonstrated by the fact that, for several years, neighbouring Estonia has printed its topographic maps at our printing house.
